Anicca: Interpersonal Reflections
'Anicca: Interpersonal Reflections' is inspired by the Buddhist principle of impermanence, underscoring the idea that everything changes, and nothing remains constant. This deeply personal project was born from the recent loss of significant relationships (romantic, familial and platonic) in the artist's own life.
The series of images explore the concept of relationships through portraiture, using bubbles and mirrors as an invitation for viewers to reflect on the fundamental nature of relationships in our lives, even as they change over time. The people photographed were chosen because of the significance they hold in the artist's life, and they are captured holding the reflection of a person who is significant to them. The images create a visual narrative of interconnectedness with the mirrors reflecting the qualities of those we deem important.
The bubbles represent the transient nature of both relationships and life in the that some may last longer than others but in the end they all burst. To add depth to this visual exploration, each participant was interviewed, exploring their perspectives on relationships, reminiscing lost connections, and celebrating newfound bonds.
